  These people are butchers! I took my eternity ring in to have the setting checked as I was concerned that one of the stones was loose. After some time examining the ring behind a screen, the woman returned and asked me whether I had dropped (?!) it or caught it on something as there was a huge gouge across the setting and this was why the stone was loose. She suggested that I take it back to the jewellers where it was purchased for them to have a look at it. I was rather bemused by this as I knew there was no damage to the ring but took it from her and left the shop whilst putting it back onto my finger. As I walked away I felt a roughness on the ring which had not been there before and, to my horror, discovered that there was now a deep gouge from one side of the setting to the other. In some distress I went across town to J******* J******** where the ring had been purchased and asked for their help. They were shocked at the damage and could see that it had been caused by metal tweezers which had easily scraped through the 18K gold. They confirmed that the stones were secure in the setting, which was done by simply looking through an eyeglass, and described the damage as "bizarre". The ring has been left with them for repair which will cost me £25.00. We returned to Daniels and my husband went in to speak to the assistant (I was too upset) who, of course, denied the whole thing although admitted using the metal tweezers. I cannot prove that she caused the damage to my ring but both she and I know that she most definitely did. Avoid this shop and spread the word. Do not allow them to touch any precious items. Take the time to walk to the other side of town to J******* - a proper jeweller.
